FATHER’S DAY

Prelude

*Processional

In this place, among these people, God is worshipped, God is praised. We have seen the signs and wonders; the lost are found here, the dead are raised.  We are living the Gospel story; lives are changed and mountains moved. Won’t you come and work among us? You are welcomed, you are loved.

*Call to Worship  (by Kwasi Kena)
One: On a day when so many men are absent, we cherish the love of our fathers.
All:  Thank you God for fathers who comfort and encourage.
One: Thank you God for fathers who build character and inspire us to greatness.
All:  Thank you God, for fathers who teach morality and model decency.
One: Thank you God for fathers who lovingly convince boys to become men.
All:  Thank you God for brave fathers who have the courage to resist being absent.  Lord, on this Father’s Day, may we encourage more men in our community to pick up the mantle of fatherhood! AMEN

*Prayer:  (by Rev. Nathan Decker)
O Lord Our Heavenly Father:
You, who adopt orphan children and care for the widows;
You stand at the door staring at the horizon,
desiring that your prodigal children come home.
Bless fathers and men everywhere this day
that the orphans may have role models,
that the widows may be provided what they need,
that the future men may see Christ reflected in the love
of piggy-back rides and hard-learned lessons
Through Christ and the Spirit to the Father, Amen.
